Add a text watermark to your PDFs
Type whatever you need ("Client copy", "Draft", "Internal use") and get the watermarked PDF back instantly, processed on our European servers with nothing stored.
A watermark tells everyone what a document is and who it is for: a draft that is not final yet, a copy issued to a specific client, an internal-only report or papers supplied for one particular proceeding. It is a small step that prevents mix-ups once the same PDF starts passing through several hands.
Because watermarks go on documents that are about to be shared, the step itself should not expose them. Contracts, expert reports and commercial proposals carry personal and confidential information. In Anonimatum the watermark is applied on our EU servers, with no third-party services, and the document is not kept once you have the result.
A watermark is not a substitute for anonymization: it labels, it does not conceal. That is why it fits well into a chain of steps on one platform. Anonymize or pseudonymize the data the recipient should not see, add your watermark text and, where needed, protect the PDF with a password or sign it.
How to watermark a PDF
- 1
Open "Watermark"
At app.anonimatum.com, inside the PDF Tools menu.
- 2
Upload and type your text
Enter the watermark text you want to appear on the document.
- 3
Download the result
The watermarked PDF comes back straight away; the original is not stored on the server.
Security
Your PDFs never leave our servers in the EU
The same safeguards as the anonymizer, also for merging, converting or compressing.
Our own servers in the EU
Every tool runs on Anonimatum servers in France and Poland (OVHcloud). No third-party services or APIs: LibreOffice and OCR run on our own server.
We don’t keep the document
The PDF is processed in memory and returned straight away. Conversions use a temporary folder that is deleted when they finish.
History under your control
Group activity (operation and file name) is deleted according to the retention your administrator sets, from 1 to 365 days. The audit log only keeps the SHA-256 fingerprint.
Access with your account
You sign in with your Anonimatum account, with two-step verification, and each use is deducted from your plan’s PDF tools quota.
ENS Medium category
Politeia Soft is certified under Spain’s National Security Framework (ENS), Medium category, and the platform is designed for the GDPR.
Next to the anonymizer
Merge, reorder or convert, then anonymize or pseudonymize the result on the same platform before sharing it.
What it gives you
- Fully customisable text watermark

Watermark PDF: frequently asked questions
What kind of watermark can I add?
A text watermark with whatever wording you type: "Confidential", "Draft", the recipient's name, a case reference and so on.
Does a watermark protect the personal data in the PDF?
No. A watermark shows how or where a document may be used, but it hides nothing. If the PDF contains personal data the recipient should not see, anonymize it first; to restrict who can open it, add a password with Protect PDF.
Where is the document processed?
On Anonimatum's own servers in the EU (OVHcloud, France and Poland). It is not sent to third-party services. The file is processed in memory, returned immediately and not stored.
Do I need an account, and does it use my allowance?
Yes. You need an Anonimatum account (two-step verification available) and each use counts towards your plan's PDF tools allowance.
Is there a record of what I watermarked?
The group history shows the operation and the file name, kept for the retention period the admin sets (1 to 365 days). The audit log stores only the SHA-256 fingerprint, never the content.
