Edit your PDFs: text, images, shapes and notes

Write on any page, place a stamp or a scanned signature, highlight, underline, add notes and draw. Everything you add is saved as real text, vector paths and PDF annotations, not as a picture of the page.

PDF editor with a fictitious contract: added review text, a highlighted item, an ellipse, an arrow, a note, a signature and a freehand stroke.

A PDF often needs only a small touch: a margin note, the registry stamp, a review date, an arrow pointing at the clause to fix or a scanned signature. Going back to the original file is not always possible, and printing and scanning leaves you with a PDF without text.

Anonimatum's editor adds those elements to any page without rasterising it: text stays real text, shapes become vector paths and highlights and notes are standard PDF annotations that any reader shows and colleagues can keep commenting on.

What it does not do is delete information. "White-out" hides content from view, but it is still in the file. When the document holds personal data that must not leave your organisation, the right step is Anonimatum's anonymization, on the same platform.

How to edit a PDF

  1. 1

    Open "Edit PDF"

At app.anonimatum.com, inside PDF Tools, and upload the document.

  2. 2

    Add what you need

Pick text, image, shape, highlight, note or drawing and place it on the page; move, rotate or resize it at any time.

  3. 3

    Download the edited PDF

The PDF is generated on our EU servers and returned straight away, without keeping a copy.

Security

Your PDFs never leave our servers in the EU

The same safeguards as the anonymizer, also for merging, converting or compressing.

  • Our own servers in the EU

Every tool runs on Anonimatum servers in France and Poland (OVHcloud). No third-party services or APIs: LibreOffice and OCR run on our own server.

  • We don’t keep the document

The PDF is processed in memory and returned straight away. Conversions use a temporary folder that is deleted when they finish.

  • History under your control

Group activity (operation and file name) is deleted according to the retention your administrator sets, from 1 to 365 days. The audit log only keeps the SHA-256 fingerprint.

  • Access with your account

You sign in with your Anonimatum account, with two-step verification, and each use is deducted from your plan’s PDF tools quota.

  • ENS Medium category

Politeia Soft is certified under Spain’s National Security Framework (ENS), Medium category, and the platform is designed for the GDPR.

  • Next to the anonymizer

Merge, reorder or convert, then anonymize or pseudonymize the result on the same platform before sharing it.

Editing PDFs: frequently asked questions

Can I change the text already in the PDF?

No. The editor adds elements on top of the pages: new text, images, shapes, markup and notes. If you need to rewrite the content, convert the PDF to Word, edit it and convert it back to PDF.

Does "White-out" anonymize the document?

No. It only places a white rectangle on top: the text underneath is still inside the PDF and can be copied, searched or extracted. The editor says so and links to Anonimatum's anonymization, which is what really removes data from the document.

Can the text I add be selected and searched?

Yes. It is written as PDF text with a standard font, not as an image, so it can be selected, copied and searched. Shapes and drawings are vector paths, and highlights, underlines, strikethroughs and notes are PDF annotations that any reader shows.

Where is my PDF processed?

The page is shown in your browser and the final PDF is generated on Anonimatum's own servers in the EU (OVHcloud, France and Poland), without third-party services. The file is processed in memory, returned immediately and not stored.

Do I need an account? Does it use my allowance?

Yes. The tool is part of the Anonimatum App, requires an account and each download of the edited PDF counts as one use of your plan's PDF tools allowance.
