Anonymize invoices without losing line items, tax bases, VAT or totals
An invoice looks like an accounting document, but when the customer is an individual it is also a personal data document: name, tax ID, billing address, sometimes phone and email, and often the direct debit account. And invoices leave the company often: samples for the auditor, evidence in a debt claim or a test set for new accounting software.
In Spain, plans are arranged with our sales team.
Anonimatum's «Invoice» template is designed for exactly that: it hides the customer's personal data and keeps the line items, tax bases, VAT and totals visible, which is what the recipient needs to check. Your own company's details as issuer can stay visible by adding them once to the whitelist for every batch.
If you are about to upload invoices to an AI tool or an automated data-extraction service you do not control, anonymizing them first is the simplest way to minimise what you share. Anonimatum processes on EU servers with its own models, without sending anything to external large language model APIs.
How to anonymize a batch of invoices
- 1
Upload the invoices
PDFs from your invoicing software, scanned or photographed invoices, or a ZIP with the whole quarter.
- 2
Apply the «Invoice» template
It hides the customer's name, tax ID, address and contact details and leaves line items, bases, VAT and totals out of the selection.
- 3
Whitelist your own company
The issuer's legal name and tax ID stay visible on every invoice in the batch, while the recipient is hidden.
- 4
Download the anonymized ZIP
Spot-check a few in the preview and download the result, ready to send or to load into the tool.

Issuer, invoice number, line items and the full calculation remain so the auditor can reconcile revenue; only the private customer disappears.
Why invoices need their own template
It knows which amounts to keep
Generic amount detection would also hide the tax base and VAT. The template leaves the calculation blocks out of the selection so the invoice still adds up.
Issuer visible, recipient hidden
With the whitelist, your legal name, tax ID and registered address remain on every invoice and only the customer's details are hidden.
Receipts and scanned invoices
Photographed or paper invoices go through OCR before detection, and verification QR codes can be covered with the matching option if needed.
Business customers too, when needed
When the customer is a company its details are not personal data, but they may be confidential. A word set with those customers' names hides them across the batch.
FAQ: anonymizing invoices
Can I hide unit prices too?
Yes. The template keeps amounts visible by default, but you can turn on amount detection or mark them during review, for example when sharing an invoice in a tender or with a competitor.
Does it work for supplier invoices?
Yes. There you would usually hide the contact person or the self-employed supplier's details and keep the amounts that support the expense.
Should I anonymize invoices before using them with AI?
If the tool is not under your control or you are unsure where it processes data, anonymizing first reduces what you share. The tool still sees line items and amounts, which is usually all it needs.
What about invoices kept in Excel?
Spreadsheets are anonymized in their native format. If you keep an invoice register in Excel, you can hide the customer and tax ID columns and keep the amount columns.
How many invoices can I process at once?
As many as your plan allows. The batch runs on the server, accepts a ZIP as input and returns a ZIP with the results.
